We have had a few days of continuing rain in June and as a result Crabtree River and Mountain River have risen significantly. All we hear when we go outside is the sound of rushing water.
This is what the river looks like in normal conditions The river paddock before the cottages
And After

We returned from a long weekend in Melbourne on the 1st of May to find snow on Sleeping Beauty the mountain at the back of us. Apparently this will be a very common site over the next few months.
May 29. Snow surrounding us on all the mountains, quite beautiful but bloody cold. Betsey the boiler is working 24 hours a day to keep the whole house at 20 degrees. 15 to 20 ton of wood should see us out for the winter.

Anna and I are very excited, we caught the creature that killed our bantam chooks. Here it is in a special pen we built. We are not sure if it is a protected species or not so we are keeping it alive for now.

Actually, Sophie, this is a Quoll suspected to be the chook murderer.
The Story So Far
Garry and Anna, Max (now deceased) and Sam and of course Jude the budgie trekked down to Tassie to start a new life. Lucy and Enid, the two female goats and six silky hens and three bloody loud roosters awaited our arrival.
We got sick of moving the goats on their chains and we felt it was cruel for the goats so we electrified the fence and now they are as happy as goats in their own paddock.
RECENT NEWS
We had a mass murdering Quoll attack all the hens and were left with no hens, no eggs and four hours work to make the Chook Palace safe and secure. We purchased six more hens from the local Chook Boutique, four reds and two blacks and they have started laying from day one.
All this on top of losing Maxi at Easter
Overall we love where we are and hope to see you down here.
Best Wishes
Garry and Anna
